Poem of the Day: Les enfants qui s’aiment (Young People In Love) by Jacques Prévert

"'Will you love me for a lifetime?' He gazed at me with those gorgeous hazel eyes of his. 'It goes without saying.' I tightened my grip on his hands. 'No, Jordan, it needs saying. The first boy I ever truly loved could only promise me a season, not a lifetime. I need to hear you say it.' He put his hands on each side of my head. 'I promise a lifetime.'" Kim and Jordan:

The children lovers embrace upright
Against night’s doors
And passers-by who pass by point their finger at them
But the children lovers
Are there for no one
And it’s only their shadow
Which quivers in the night
Stirring up the anger of the passers-by
Their anger, their contempt, their laughs and their desire
The children lovers are there for no one
They’re elsewhere much further than the night
Much higher than the day
In the dazzling light of their first love.

— Original —
