Song of the Day: With a Woman by The Darkness

Great song, Great video, Great Band!

Remind me of the good old days, they bring the 80s back!

Frontman Justin Hawkins took a long time to write the lyric for this song. Guitarist Dan Hawkins explained: “This was a backing track without vocals for ages. We were waiting. And waiting. And waiting. It was the last song on the album to be completed, but he finally pulled it out of the bag. Pressure’s good for Justin. He’s a big-game player.”

The song’s music video is a high-school love story homage to the MTV clips of the ’80s, and also acts as a prequel to The Darkness’ previous visual for “Everybody Have a Good TIME.”

Lyrics:

It’s all over between me and you
I wanna tell you I still love you but it wouldn’t be true
I know it hurts like hell but what else can I do?
You said I wasted your time but that was my time tooLiving a lie, I was a liar, I lied
Too much of a coward to admit I wasn’t satisfied
I know I caused you pain deep down inside
But the sweet love between us has died

Please forgive me if you can forget the things I’ve done
Understand that I am just a man
And I’ve fallen in love
With a woman

This is me leaving, this is me closing the door
I don’t wanna be a part of you and me anymore
I’ve had enough now baby, I loved you before
But I can’t even remember what I used to adore

Gone, I bet you didn’t think I’d dare
You had me locked up in a tower now I’m letting down my hair
My broken heart is not beyond repair
I was drowning now I’m coming up for air

Please forgive me if you can forget the things I’ve done
Understand that I am just a man
And I’ve fallen in love
With a woman

Please forgive me if you can forget the things I’ve done
Understand that I am just a man
And I’ve fallen in love
With a woman
With a woman
With a woman
With a woman
With a woman

Everybody Have a Good Time

Everybody Have A Good Time” is a song by the British rock band, The Darkness, released as a promotional single from their third studio album,Hot Cakes, released in June 2012. Justin Hawkins said of the song, “We wanted to write the world’s simplest, dumbest rock song. It’s harder than you might imagine. Songwriting is like catching butterflies. If a big dumb butterfly isn’t flying past when you’re sitting there with your net, you aren’t going to catch one.”
